Our Dentists

Dr. Ed Hood is a native of and resident of Denham Springs, LA. He is a 1977 graduate of Denham Springs High School. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in 1985. He is a member of the Greater Baton Rouge Dental Association, the Louisiana Dental Association, and the American Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Hood’s passion and desire are to provide the highest quality dentistry to all patients with the latest in technology and with highly trained personnel whose primary focus is patient care in a professional atmosphere, where comfort and trust are priorities. Dr. Hood attends numerous continuing education courses every year to stay current with enhancements that make dentistry easier and more comfortable for patients. In his spare time, he enjoys hunting and playing golf.

Dr. Andrew Hood is a native and resident of Denham Springs. After graduating from Denham Springs High School in 2004, he completed his undergraduate courses in Biological Sciences at LSU and continued to earn his DDS from the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in New Orleans. He is dedicated to providing personalized care to all of his patients by using state-of-the-art facilities and equipment and staying current with the newest and best techniques available in modern dentistry. Andrew Hood is proud to work alongside his father and continue his legacy of bringing healthy, beautiful smiles to people.

Dr. Kyle Free was born and raised in Baton Rouge. He graduated from Catholic High School in 2007, then completed his undergraduate degree at LSU, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. After graduating from LSU, Dr. Free went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in New Orleans. In his spare time, Dr. Free enjoys hunting, fishing, and attending LSU sporting events as well as spending time with his family.

Dr. Holly Cantu was raised in Denham Springs, LA, where she graduated from Denham Springs High School. She received her Bachelor's degree in Biology from Louisiana State University. She then attended the LSU School of Dentistry to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. In her spare time, she enjoys being a mom to her 3 sons and spending quality time with her family.

Dr. Alexander Simon is a native and resident of Baton Rouge. He graduated from Catholic High in 2011 and earned a degree in Biological Sciences from LSU. He attended the LSU School of Dentistry, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery. Dr. Alexander strives to offer gentle and compassionate care to make every patient feel comfortable and welcomed in the dental chair. Dr. Alexander has a passion for learning and providing the most up-to-date treatment options that cater to each patient individually. In his free time, Dr. Alexander loves to tailgate/watch LSU sports, travel, cook, play soccer, and golf.

Dr. Rebecca Tatum was raised in Baton Rouge, La. After graduating from Parkview Baptist School, she received her Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from Louisiana State University. She then attended the LSU School of Dentistry in New Orleans to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Dr. Tatum loves dentistry because it allows her to get to know patients' personalities while helping them become healthy and confident in their smiles. In her spare time, she enjoys going to the beach, fishing in Grand Isle with her family, and playing tennis!

Dr. Sydney Duvall is an accomplished dentist who graduated from the LSU Health School of Dentistry. Originally from New Iberia, Louisiana, she has built a strong reputation in the dental community for her expertise, compassionate care, and dedication to her patients. With a focus on providing exceptional dental services, Dr. Duvall is committed to helping her patients achieve and maintain healthy, beautiful smiles. Her professional journey reflects her passion for dentistry, and she is known for her attention to detail, patient-centered approach, and excellent communication skills. As a highly respected member of her field, Dr. Duvall continues to make a positive impact in the lives of those she treats.

Dr. Jordan Boone is a skilled and dedicated dentist who studied at the School of Dentistry at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC). Before pursuing dentistry, Dr. Boone earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Mississippi State University, where she developed a strong foundation in science and problem-solving that she applies to her dental practice. Known for her exceptional care and expertise, Dr. Boone is committed to helping her patients achieve optimal oral health with a compassionate and personalized approach. Outside of dentistry, she has a creative side and enjoys doing custom embroidery, blending her love for design with her technical skills. Dr. Boone’s unique combination of talents makes her a well-rounded professional who continually strives to make a positive impact in the lives of her patients.

Dr. Patrick Cecola was born and raised in New Orleans. He graduated from Jesuit High School in 2015 and moved on to LSU, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences. He then returned to New Orleans to attend the LSU School of Dentistry, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery. Dr. Cecola loves getting to know his patients and aims to ensure that each patient has a stress-free and comfortable experience. When not at the dental office, Dr. Cecola loves to spend time with his wife and two golden retrievers, boating on the river, and watching LSU football.

Dr. Austin Chautin was born and raised in Slidell, LA. He attended Pope John Paul II Catholic High School and completed his undergraduate degree in Biology at the University of Southern Mississippi. Dr. Chautin worked for Hood Dental Care as a dental assistant alongside Dr. Hood for several years before earning his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Louisiana State University School of Dentistry. He is thrilled to be back at HDC as a dentist and ready to serve his patients' needs with the latest and greatest technology available. In his spare time, he enjoys running, biking, reading, and spending time on the beach with his family.

Dr. Sarah Davis was born and raised in Arkansas, where she attended the University of Arkansas, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in 2020. She then attended LSU School of Dentistry, earning her Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2024. Dr. Sarah‘s goal is to give patients the smile they have always wanted while fostering a welcoming and safe environment in each visit. In her spare time, Dr. Sarah enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, and watching movies.

Born and raised in Benton, Louisiana, Dr. Betts brings small-town values and a deep passion for dentistry to the communities of Watson and Denham Springs. A proud valedictorian graduate of Benton High School, she went on to earn her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from Louisiana State University and her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the LSU School of Dentistry.

Dr. Betts has come to love the southern culture and is honored to serve as a trusted neighborhood dentist. Outside the office, she enjoys spending time outdoors, watching LSU sports, traveling, and making memories with her husband and their beloved dog, Mae. She also proudly serves as a board member of Swollfest Fishing Rodeo, a nonprofit organization dedicated to giving back to Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital and other charitable organizations.

Dr. Betts believes dentistry is about more than just teeth—it's about helping patients become the best versions of themselves through confident, healthy smiles. Known for her compassionate care and gentle approach, she strives to create a comfortable, welcoming environment where patients of all ages feel at ease.

Dr. Jake was raised in French Settlement, Louisiana, and is proud to serve the community that he grew up in. He earned his undergraduate degree in biology from Centenary College of Louisiana, where he played baseball and received two National College Athlete Honor Society Awards. He went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the LSU School of Dentistry, class of 2021. While in dental school, Dr. Jake began volunteering with the Special Olympics of Louisiana and now continues to work with the Special Olympics Healthy Athletes division. Dr. Jake is married to his beautiful wife, Mary Beth. They enjoy traveling and spending time with their weenie dog, Mr. Gibbs, who loves to terrorize the neighborhood. In his free time, Dr. Jake enjoys woodworking, playing music, and training in martial arts.
